Jun Miyake - trumpeter on Tokyo Kid (1988) on the album Revolutions.

jarretribute.com: When did you ever first hear of Jean Michel Jarre, not only as a collaborator but as a music listener?

Jun Miyake: I wasn't familiar with his music (but I was familiar with his father's music) until I met him in 1987.

jarretribute.com: Please tell us about when you first met Jean Michel Jarre.

Jun Miyake: He was visiting Tokyo to find a place for his performance, and checking the music scene around the city. He happened to run into my gig several times and liked my music. He was talking about making his concert at the Emperor's palace. I liked the idea as it is absolutely unrealistic and crazy.

Later, I informed him that I would be producing an artist in London, and he asked me to come to Paris to play on one of his tracks, the recording session was done then.

jarretribute.com: To what extent did Jarre have specific ideas on what you should do or play?

Jun Miyake: Actually not so much... he just had a simple rhythm track, no chord changes. He asked me to play whatever I heard in the rhythm, so I had to come up with a simple theme followed by improvisation. I also suggested to record my horn with a megaphone.
